Mine Rescue Competition

Mine Rescue Competition

The 2020 Mine Rescue Competition has been cancelled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The WSCC wants to acknowledge the many dedicated and skilled mine rescue team volunteers who devote a great deal of time and energy into training for this important annual event. As well as the mines and event sponsors that support Mine Rescue, including the Miners Picnic and Awards Ceremony.

In addition to fostering friendly competition, mine rescue competitions are a way to practice life-saving skills. The competitions bring mines together to evaluate and compare the effectiveness and quality of their mine rescue training programs and emergency response capabilities. They allow teams to learn from one another, share best practices and new industry equipment, and most importantly, help keep our workplaces safer.

We look forward to welcoming the teams, organizers, volunteers, sponsors, event partners, and spectators back to Yellowknife in 2021 for the 63rd Annual Mine Rescue Competition.
