Partnerships

The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) recognizes that workplace health and safety requires collaboration. For this reason, the WSCC enters into partnerships with stakeholders to promote the WSCC’s Vision, Mission, and Values and the organization’s strategic objectives in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

WSCC’s partner organizations

Northern Safety Association

The Northern Safety Association is a non-profit organization that offers health and safety training for workers and employers in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Skills Canada NWT

Skills Canada NWT is a registered charity with a mission to promote careers in skilled trades and technology to northern youth. Skills NT pursue this mission through community-based skills clubs, youth conferences, skills competitions, as well as other events focused on trades and technology.

Skills Canada Nunavut

Skills Canada Nunavut is a non-profit organization working to reposition skilled trades and technologies as a first choice career option for Nunavut youth. In partnership with the territorial and federal governments, schools and communities, industry professionals and educators, our organization is helping to creatively address Nunavut’s need for a strong skilled workforce.

Applying for a partnership

All prospective partners must be in good standing with:

  • The Societies Act (NWT or NU);
  • The Business Corporations Act (NWT or NU), or the Co-operative Associations Act (NWT or NU) (whichever is applicable to the type of organization);
  • The Workers Compensation Act (NWT or NU); 
  • The organization must not have outstanding directions under the Safety Act ( NWT or NU) or the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (OHS Regulations) (NWT or NU); and,
  • Prospective partners must have values that are in alignment with the WSCC’s Values
